It's almost not worth celebrating anymore.

ALMOST.

It's all about remembering the reasons behind the celebration. To quote a former pastor of mine, "Jesus is the season, WE are the reason."Terri Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09876927322566875938noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-981001871799440036.post-19487647198209738822008-12-09T12:39:00.000-08:002008-12-09T12:39:00.000-08:00This was beautifully written! I think these elements of joy and good intention should be sought throughout the year, but particularly during the holidays when families tend to be afforded more time to be together. Christmas needs to be seen as less of an obligation, and more of an opportunity. (With this sort of mindset, my Christmas list this year is not made up of items I want, but people I want to spend time with.)

Great post! I really enjoyed the message.Briannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06928237546043442550noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-981001871799440036.post-15033272315054207072008-12-09T12:09:00.000-08:002008-12-09T12:09:00.000-08:00This is so well written, I could read it before ou...This is so well written, I could read it before our Christmas Cantata that we are performing this sunday in church "all is calm, all is bright".
I completely agree.
In a time of supposed joy and merryment, so many are out of work, alone, feeling depressed, lonely, and are generally forgotten.
It is up to us to reach out to those people.
Isn't it tempting to go and buy everyone something? But then what happens on Jan 14th when we get our credit card bill(s). Yes, we realize we made a mistake. but then we do it all over again.
The true spirit of christmas isn't about flashing LED lights on a tree; it's about loving one another because of who Jesus Christ is in our lives today, I think.
Thanks for posting.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14505332993314748430noreply@blogger.com
